For example, a 12MW connection originally priced by a DNO at £9.6 million: after a 90 minute meeting and some robust negotiating on behalf of our client, the DNO repriced the same job at £4.2m. A saving of £5.4 million with no reduction in specification or equipment substitution.
The client had engaged a plethora of large consultants on their project - including two international worldwide specialist electrical consultants - had been told there was no room for negotiation: the price was the price. The client was a little sceptical at this and approached us. We felt we could achieve something and proceeded on a contingent fee basis – we wouldn’t be paid at all unless we negotiated a better deal.
We have acted for a commercial manufacturing business and reduced a £175,000 connection to £17,000 and the connection time from 18 months to three. During these three months we rented the client a large generator which enabled them to operate their new machinery immediately.
We also completed a 1.5 megawatt, 11,000 volt connection for a local business - one of the largest polymer recycling companies in the UK - in just two weeks.
